- Notes about your relationships
- Interaction history (when you contacted someone)
2. Data Usage and Protection
Your relationship data is:
- Stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage
- Never uploaded to our servers (local-first approach)
- Used to calculate optimal contact reminders using spaced repetition
- Used to generate your relationship health score
- Completely private and under your control
- Exportable as a JSON backup for your records
3. Data Collection and Usage
3.1 Local-First Architecture
Out of the Blue operates with a local-first, privacy-focused approach:
- All contact data stays on your device
- Relationship histories are stored locally
- Health scores calculated on-device
- No cloud sync or server storage of personal data
- Your relationships remain completely private
3.2 Third-Party Services
Out of the Blue uses the following third-party services:
RevenueCat (Subscription Management):
- Manages subscription status and payments
- Processes purchases through App Store/Google Play
- No access to your contact or relationship data
- Only handles payment processing
Expo Push Notifications:
- Delivers reminder notifications at your configured times
- Birthday reminders (3 days advance and day-of)
- Health warnings when relationship scores drop
- Streak reminders to maintain consistency
- Can be disabled in app settings
What we DON'T collect or store:
- Your contacts' personal information on any server
- Your interaction history or relationship patterns
- Location data
- Advertising identifiers
- Any data for marketing purposes
4. Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- Export all your data as a JSON backup anytime
- Delete individual contacts (soft delete preserves history)
- Clear all data through the app settings
- Control notification permissions
- Disable specific notification types (birthdays, reminders, etc.)
- Uninstall the app to remove all local data
5. Data Retention
Your data management:
- All data stored locally on your device
- Soft-deleted contacts preserved with history
- Export feature for personal backups
- Complete removal upon app uninstall
- No server-side data retention
6. iOS Widget
If you use our iOS home screen widget:
- Widget data shared via secure app group
- Shows health score and connection stats
- Updates automatically with app data
- No additional data collection
7. Children's Privacy
Out of the Blue is designed for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. The app's local-first approach ensures that any data entered remains on the device.
8. Changes to Privacy Policy
We will notify users of any material changes to this privacy policy through app updates. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
